Urban Decay Primer Potion in Sin

I saw a review of this product on you tube, and I was a bit hesitatant to purchase it at first and didn't want to spend money on a product that I "may" not like. So I used my beauty reward points at Sephora and didn't feel too bad about buying it. But to my surprise, I love it!! Although it is an eyeshadow primer, I purchased the primer in Sin, which has a hint of color to it. I wear it alone sometimes for a more subtle look but it also works great as a brow bone highlight if you rub a small amount from lash line to brow bone before applying any eyeshadow. It's $18 at Sephora and later realized it's $17 at Ulta but a little goes a very long way so I think it's worth the price! Sometimes I don't completely open the wand, I'll just rub the cap grooves and get enough product for both eyes! This is definitely a must have!

I Love My New Eyeshadow Palette!

I've loved anything make up since before I was allowed to wear it. I remember applying eyeliner in Junior High and then washing my face with hand soap when school let out and before I went home. Rubbing it off was a mission, using the hard brown old-school paper towels that must have done some serious damage to my skin!
Since make up has been my passion, I've always purchased it regardless what brand it was, where I was purchasing it or if it was a good product or not. With time, I had some sort of collection...but all but few were products that either did not last more than two hours or were not worth the money I paid!
This is very true with most Avon eyeshadows. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge Avon fan...I've been a customer for years! Always on the lookout for an Avon Rep so I can become their biggest customer...always loving the idea to shop from a catalog I guess and not having to physically go into a store to make the purchase (hmmm, I guess that's why I love to shop online also!) Most of the eyeshadows I would purchase would not be true to the color swatch and would definitely not last more than a few hours. Recently I purchased an eyeshadow palette from Coastalscents.com - and I was blown away by how much the colors are pigmented and how true-to-color they are! With just one swipe you have the right amount of intensity and they last all day! I purchased the 88 Color Palette in December and in January I just had to have the 88 Warm Palette...which was only $24.95, definitely the best product for my money in recent months! I also purchased mineralized eyeshadow samples for only 95 cents!! Enough product comes in each sample for at least 20 uses! I can't beat that with any other product I purchase elsewhere.
So I'm done with paying $4 for an eyeshadow that won't last at all or $14.50 for just a single one!

Valentine's Day

Valentines Day came too early this year...really, it did! About two weeks ago my friend asked the dreadful question "what are you doing for Valentine's Day?". Considering my husband and I don't really believe in the whole idea of waiting until February 14th to remind each other that I love him and he loves me...and of course in all previous years finding it way too difficult to celebrate it without our four kids deciding on where to have dinner and doing away with the slight bit of romance...I laughed at the question and simply answered "girl, we never do anything". There really wasn't any bitterness to my answer, although using the word "never" was in fact stretching it a little. Of course we've celebrated the day, but not necessarily on THAT day, maybe the day or weekend before, but it's always been in our own way, bypassing the 3 hour long wait at Olive Garden and the expensive gifts we really don't need!
So when my friend and I were discussing Valentines Day and how over rated it is, she asked if my husband and I would like to join them for a Vegas get away the week AFTER Valentines.....I jumped on it and quickly said yes!..without even thinking about it or discussing it with my husband - and those two put together was really strange for me to do! But, my logic was, this would be "our own way" we would celebrate Valentines.....a very good excuse...uhmm, I mean, "reason".
In reality, I'm not a huge Vegas fan. I don't like gambling, I can't stay up the entire night without sleeping in the entire next day, and I hate the smell of smoke! So why do I like going to Vegas......to shop, eat and party! Well when I say party, by that I mean get all dressed up, go out to a dance club, and people watch! I get a good show, a fun evening, and quality bonding time with my hubby all wrapped into one!...and we don't have to pay over $100 for the tickets!
So our Vegas weekend is planned. But for some strange reason I thought Valentines day fell on a Monday this year, not realizing that Monday was February 15th not 14th... So when my daughter walked up to me early sunday morning and said "happy valentines day mommy" -- I thought SHE was off! Needless to say I forgot. Even if we don't "traditionally" celebrate Valentines day - we always remember and acknowledge the day. I questioned myself for forgetting Valentines Day, it's always on the same day, February 14th, where was my head??...but I haven't been able to find an answer to that question...My husband was a bit hurt, or maybe it was just me that felt guilty...? Oh well, our trip to Vegas will make up for it!

My Randomness

As I tried to plan out my blog, I kept coming back to what it is I love and enjoy the most - or as I call them "My Passions". I'm not starting this blog for any other reason than to use it as an outlet to express my views, opinions and maybe in the process, provide anyone willing to bare with me, with some of my trials and tribulations as a wife, mother and shopper.

Who I am...

Welcome! My name is Nelly, a 36 year old wife and mother of 4 great children. A few of my passions are: my family, makeup, fashion, cooking and home decor. I find that I have many tips in these categories, so I figured I would share them with anyone willing to hear me out =) I also notice that many advertisements are just that - an ad - but the product they're marketing is not great at all or sometimes an item that doesn't get much marketing is the one that works best! So I'll be sharing reviews on various products from personal hygiene to beauty products to cleaning supplies to pet food!
As a wife and mother of four I have tons of tips that can help make your life a bit easier. And as a mother of a 17, 13, 11 and 8 year old.....well lets just say I have plenty of advice! =)

Also, I would love to hear your comments on any of the items being reviewed or any suggestions you may have.

So let's get started!
